My love for women and children has grown exponentially since I graduated from Webster University with my master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. I found myself working jobs that involved serving birthing people and their children. I have worked for Barnes Jewish Hospital’s OB/GYN clinic and a St. Louis Children’s Hospital program called Raising St. Louis. Raising St. Louis is a free home visiting program and an extension of the hospital. This program provides resources, family support, and hosts events for underserved populations. These two job opportunities along with attending two births of friends, has opened my heart to serving families more closely. I’ve prayed and supported my patients, clients and friends however they needed me to on their journeys to parenthood.
I’ve heard countless stories from clients and friends about their traumatic birthing experiences. Did you know that Black women are 3x more likely to die from a pregnancy-related issue? We are looking at 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births as of 2023. I want to help be the driver for change because enough is enough!
I want to offer services that black and brown families in St. Louis could benefit from. My goal is to get parents and babies the birthing experiences that they deserve. I believe with God, this is possible.
